Institute for School Partnership’s Darwin Day celebration to highlight evolution education

WUSTL’s Institute for School Partnership kicks off its second annual Darwin Day celebration this weekend, Feb. 7 and 8, with evolution education workshops for teachers and students. A highlight is a visit from alum Sean B. Carroll, PhD, of Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Virginia Terpening, rediscovered

Virginia Terpening was an accomplished painter and important regional artist. Yet by the time of her death, in 2007, Terpening’s work had been largely forgotten; hundreds of paintings languished in a rusty trailer in northeast Missouri. A reappraisal is underway, however, thanks in large part to The Hinge, a nonprofit gallery co-founded by Eileen G’Sell, lecturer in writing in Arts & Sciences.

The School of Medicine honored several faculty members Jan. 29 at the 2014 Faculty Recognition Event at the Eric P. Newman Education Center. Faculty members received Distinguished Faculty and Samuel R. Goldstein Leadership awards.

Bunderson to lead executive programs at Olin

Stuart Bunderson, the George and Carol Bauer Professor of Organizational Ethics and Governance, has accepted an appointment as associate dean of executive programs at Olin Business School. He will begin March 1.
